The current U3A Spanish is a group that started as complete beginners in October 2019.  The group now meets every fortnight for 1 1/2 hours to continue learning the Spanish language practising the four skills: Reading, Writing, Listening and specially Speaking, a skill that we are putting a lot of effort  in at the moment.

We do it in a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere and we also learn about the culture in the Spanish speaking world.  At the moment we are using a book " Español a la vista" for some structure, reference and guidance for our learning. There are 11 very keen learners in the group at the moment.

Learning a second language offers proven benefits for intelligence, memory and concentration and lowered risks of dementia and Alzheimer's... Because language is complex, speaking or learning a foreign language gives your brain a good workout.  It's a good brain exercise that makes the brain stronger.

As this group has been together for a long time and has reached a certain standard, new comers (beginners) may find it very difficult to catch up.  Anyone who is interested in joining must, therefore, have a good prior knowledge of Spanish.
